This October marks 10 years since we, Marianne and Petr, took over our family business and opened the doors to our online home. Ten years of sharing moldavite with you, answering your questions, meeting fellow collectors, and watching this community grow. We are so grateful that you have been part of it.
Our family’s story began 39 years ago, in 1987. Today, we are celebrating the decade we have spent carrying that story forward together—and everyone who has made it possible.
A family story that began in 1987
Marianne’s father, David, began bringing moldavite to the United States in 1987, sharing his enthusiasm for these remarkable green stones at a time when many people here had never heard of them. His first Tucson gem show followed in 1988. Through California shows and, later, Denver, he introduced more and more people to moldavite and became known as the “Moldavite Man.”
Marianne was born in California and grew up in the Czech Republic. Those connections across two countries are part of who we are: a Czech-American family sharing something special from our Czech roots.
Our next chapter: 10 years together, 10 years online
In 2016, we took over the business and began building its next chapter together. That October, we launched our website under the name Moldavite Family.
A website gave us a way to stay connected beyond the gem-show table. You could explore our collection from home, discover a piece that caught your eye, and reach out to the family behind it. A decade later, those personal connections are still one of the most rewarding parts of our work.
Whether you found us at a show, through a friend, on Instagram, or while searching for your very first moldavite, thank you for finding your way here. And if you have returned to us over the years, thank you for trusting us again.
Still connected to our roots
Our trips to the Czech Republic bring together the things we care about most: time with family, visits with trusted suppliers and long-time business partners, and the search for beautiful pieces to share with you.
Our collection includes raw moldavite, collectible specimens, sterling silver jewelry, and Libyan Desert Glass. Some of the handcrafted pendants we offer are made by Petr’s father—another way that family is woven into this business.
We love the variety of reasons people discover moldavite: its natural beauty, its fascinating origin, the pleasure of collecting, or the personal meaning of a piece chosen as a gift. Helping you find something you will treasure remains at the heart of what we do.
